Hyaluronsäure (Hyaluronic Acid)
Overview
Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a glycosaminoglycan polymer found in connective tissue, synovial fluid, and dermis. Low molecular weight oral HA is better absorbed. A 12-week placebo-controlled RCT (n=63) showed oral LMW sodium hyaluronate significantly reduced crow's feet wrinkles (from week 8) and improved skin hydration and elasticity. Emerging evidence for oral joint health benefits. Intra-articular HA is established for knee OA. Generally well tolerated; no established upper limit. Quality and molecular weight vary between products.
