Bacopa monnieri is an Ayurvedic herb containing bacosides A and B. A systematic review of 22 clinical trials found improvements in cognitive function, memory, mood, and neuroinflammation reduction (NF-κB inhibition). Effects develop slowly over 8–12 weeks. GI side effects (nausea, cramping) common especially on empty stomach — take with food. Mild sedation possible. Interactions with cholinergic/anticholinergic medications. Possible thyroid effects. Standardized extracts (45% bacosides) preferred.
