Lycopene
Overview
Lycopene (C40H56) is an acyclic carotenoid with no vitamin A activity and the highest singlet oxygen-quenching capacity among carotenoids, concentrated in the prostate and testes. A meta-analysis found lycopene supplementation significantly reduced systolic blood pressure; tomato interventions reduced LDL-cholesterol and improved endothelial function. No significant PSA effect confirmed. Bioavailability fat-soluble — enhanced from cooked tomatoes with oil. Take with meals. Additive blood pressure lowering with antihypertensives.
