Phosphatidylserin
Overview
Phosphatidylserine (PS) is a phospholipid essential for neuronal membrane integrity, synaptic signaling, and cortisol modulation. Soy-derived PS is now standard (bovine brain PS replaced due to BSE risk). A network meta-analysis of 48 studies ranked PS among most effective agents for attention and ADHD symptoms (SUCRA 0.39); PS+omega-3 effective for teacher-rated outcomes. FDA qualified health claim for cognitive decline (limited evidence). Generally well tolerated. Anticoagulant interaction possible at high doses. Avoid bovine-derived PS.
