Conjugated Linoleic Acid
Overview
Conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) is a mixture of linoleic acid isomers (primarily c9,t11 and t10,c12), found in dairy and ruminant meat, and produced from safflower oil for supplements. A meta-analysis of 14 RCTs found modest reductions in body weight (−0.72 kg), BMI, and body fat. No significant effects on lipid profiles or blood pressure. The t10,c12 isomer may mildly impair insulin sensitivity and increase CRP in some studies — caution in diabetics. No established upper limit.
